How to Plan a Landscape Design

And finally, the new plants will be drawn into placement. In order to keep track of sunlight patterns, true North should be added to the design as a point of reference. 

When picking plants as design elements, consider those that require more or less maintenance depending upon your preferences and factor in the amount of sunlight required before tackling their placement in the layout. 

Using tracing paper on top of the outline allows for various sketches to be drawn up as a visual aid in determining the final layout.
